Plasma IQ is an innovative device that utilises the fourth state of matter called Plasma to improve fine lines and wrinkles, scars and stretch marks. It is very effective in non-surgical treatment of the eyelid area (a non-surgical blepharoplasty). This technology is also used for skin tightening popularly known as Plasma Skin Tightening. This non-surgical treatment method is more than a simple tightening treatment as in this case the skin is actually removed, so the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. This rejuvenating treatment method targets specific areas of concern with no effect on surrounding areas of skin.
WHAT TREATMENTS CAN PLASMA IQ BE USED FOR?
This versatile handheld device can be used for a wide range of treatments. These are:
- Non-surgical blepharoplasty
- Wrinkle reduction
- Scars reduction
- Uneven skin texture
- Intensive skin re-building
- Stretch marks
- Acne reduction
Plasma IQ treatment lifts eyelids, permanently removes blemishes, warts and skin-tags and softens wrinkles. Plasma IQ isn’t only limited to the upper eyelid, but it can also treat around and under the eye area to reduce eye bags. It also rectifies uneven skin tone and texture, reduces the effects of acne and removes deep scars and stretch-marks.
This 20-minute non-surgical eyelift treatment reduces heavy eye-brows and tightens saggy skin on the upper lids. Plasma IQ treatment is relatively pain-free. We, at MK Aesthetic clinic, apply a topical anaesthetic if the treatment area is sensitive. After your Plasma IQ treatment, you'll be left with a tiny scab which will fall off naturally, leaving behind fresh, wrinkle-free skin beneath.
How it works :
Plasma is used by your medical practitioner to heat up your skin in the desired area. The treatment works by zapping skin with a plasma current, so in this method removal of skin is done by ‘sublimation’.
Sublimation is the process of turning a solid directly into a gaseous phase without undergoing transitional liquid phase and hence preventing any thermal damage to surrounding tissue. So the dead/undesired cells or tissues of targeted skin area removed off as a gaseous phase. Unlike other invasive skin tightening methods no cutting, stitching or injections are required to lighten the skin in this method.
Sublimation causes a retraction of your skin and stimulates your body’s natural rejuvenation process to tighten the area, as well as soften lines, wrinkles and other skin imperfections by stimulating collagen formation.
The tiny plasma microbeam tip permits the treatment of areas that cannot be treated with larger optical device and radiofrequency devices.
This is a simple and safe treatment and it generally takes 20-30 minutes. The treatment requires topical numbing cream as anaesthesia. The treatment area is cleaned and sterilised with antiseptic. After this a 0.3mm needle is positioned close to the skin surface without touching, to create a superficial micro-burn. The patient will experience a warm sensation. A series of micro-burns will be created in the area with an average session only lasting about 30 minutes. Patients will experience redness and swelling which subsides in 1 -3 days. A cold compress is often used to reduce swelling.
How many treatments are needed?
Typically, more than one treatment is required to achieve optimum results, however, this varies from patient to patient and on the procedure being carried out. Mostly it delivers visible results even after the first treatment.
Non-surgical blepharoplasty requires 3 treatments at 6-week intervals to achieve results equivalent to surgery. The optimum results will show 6 weeks after the final treatment and will last up to 2 years.
Risks and complications -
Plasma IQ is taken into account as a low-risk procedure, however, common side effects are temporary pigment change to the treated area that resolves back to your normal skin colour in less than 2 weeks.
Swelling is common and may be quite pronounced around the eyes, often worse the following morning
and lasting for several days. A residual burning or tingling sensation that may last a few
After treatment sometimes tiny black or dark brown dots are found where the individual treatment shots have been placed; these will peel off over the coming days, maybe up to 2 weeks.
In rare occurrences, the treated skin could become lighter (hypopigmentation) or darker (hyperpigmentation) than the surrounding skin.
The side effects are rarely exhibited and when they occur it should not be a cause for alarm. This method is safe when performed by a certified and experienced doctor/nurse.
Most patients will notice an instant improvement in their skin following plasma treatment. Results of every treatment are permanent therein we have a tendency to physically removing small amounts of skin and tightening the overall area. It is important to note that Plasma Lid Lifting will not stop the onset of further ageing, thus the effects will gradually diminish over time as the eyelid area naturally becomes more saggy with age, as in the case with surgical blepharoplasty. Factors such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, poor diet and UV damage from sun exposure can all contribute to further ageing of the skin. Results are therefore expected to last 2-3 years, and the treatments can be repeated.
